Seller Guide
Explore our detailed Seller Information Guide to learn how Thrifthuntr can help grow your store’s visibility and drive foot traffic.
How does Thrifthuntr work for sellers?
Thrifthuntr helps you showcase your items to a growing community of shoppers through a shared marketplace. Shoppers reserve items online and visit your store to pick them up, increasing foot traffic and exposure for your shop. You handle all payments directly with customers in-store.
How do I list my items?
Listing items is simple:
Snap a photo of the item.
Add a title, description, and price.
Save your new product listing. The app is designed to make the process fast and user-friendly.
Do I need to manage my inventory?
You only need to ensure that reserved items are held for up to 48 hours. If the shopper doesn’t pick up their reservation within this window, the item is automatically available again for others to browse and reserve.
Who handles payments?
You handle all payments for your items directly in-store, keeping the full listed price. Thrifthuntr simply adds a £1 reservation fee to your listing price, which is paid by the customer when reserving an item through the app. This ensures you keep all your profits while we facilitate the reservation process.
Is there a cost to use Thrifthuntr?
No, Thrifthuntr is free for sellers to use. There are no listing fees or subscription costs. The only fee is the £1 reservation fee, which applies to shoppers when they reserve an item. This is added to the listing price, but you keep the full price you set for your items.
What if an item sells in-store while it’s reserved online?
To avoid conflicts, reserved items should be held aside for up to 48 hours. If a shopper fails to pick up their reservation within the timeframe, the item becomes available again.
How do I sign up for the beta?
Simply complete the seller signup form or email us with your store name and location at join@thrifthuntr.com to express your interest. Once we confirm your participation, we'll provide you with a store access key and a link to the beta app (invite-only during this phase) so you can start listing your items.
What happens when the beta ends?
When the beta phase concludes, we’ll share details about the next steps, including any new features. You’ll have the option to continue with the platform or opt out—there’s no obligation to stay.
How does Thrifthuntr compare to other platforms like Shopify or Etsy?
Unlike Shopify, you don’t need to market your own store—Thrifthuntr brings customers to a shared marketplace, making it easier for shoppers to discover your items. And unlike Etsy, Thrifthuntr focuses on driving foot traffic to your physical store rather than shipping items.
Can I list the same items in-store and online?
We recommend maintaining separate stock for in-store and online listings to avoid potential conflicts, but we understand that this isn’t always feasible. If you choose to list the same items in both places, ensure that any reserved items are held for the 48-hour reservation window. After this period, if the customer hasn’t collected the item, you can return it to the shop floor for sale.
This approach minimizes the risk of double sales while providing flexibility in how you manage your inventory.
What kind of stores are eligible to join?
Thrifthuntr is designed for vintage, thrift, and curated shops, as well as curated market vendors and antique stores or stalls. If your store offers unique or one-of-a-kind or second-hand items, you’re a perfect fit!
Can I edit or remove my listings?
Yes, you can edit or remove your listings at any time, as long as the item hasn’t been reserved. Once an item is reserved, the listing details cannot be modified during the 48-hour reservation period. However, if pressing changes are needed, such as correcting an error or addressing unforeseen issues, you can contact the shopper directly via their provided email to inform them and work towards a resolution.
What if I have limited time to list items?
Thrifthuntr is quick and easy to use. Listing an item only takes a few moments—just snap a photo, add a title, description, and price, and it's ready for shoppers.
Will I be locked into a contract?
No, there are no contracts. You’re free to leave the platform at any time. Just delete your listings and email us to remove your store data.
How do I know if an item has been reserved?
When a customer reserves an item through the app, the status of the listing will change from "Live" to "Reserved" on your product page. Additionally, the reservation will appear in the Reservations tab within the app, making it easy for you to track the status of all your products.
Do I need a physical store to sell on Thrifthuntr?
Thrifthuntr is designed to support brick-and-mortar stores, as well as other physical selling locations, such as vintage market stalls or pop-up shops. As long as you have a physical address where you sell your items, you’re eligible to list your products on Thrifthuntr.
How many items can I list?
There’s no minimum number of items you need to list. Whether you have one item or one hundred, you can list as many or as few products as you like. Thrifthuntr is a flexible marketplace, allowing you to showcase your items at your own pace. Whether you're just starting out or already have a full inventory, our platform can accommodate your needs.
Can I change my store details after signing up?
Yes, if you need to update your store details, including your name, location, or contact information, you can do so directly in your account settings. If you need further assistance, contact our support team at support@thrifthuntr.com.
What happens if the item becomes unavailable after it's been reserved?
If, for any reason, the item is no longer available after a reservation, you can contact the buyer directly using the email provided in the reservation details tab in the app. It’s important to let the buyer know immediately, so they can make alternative arrangements if needed.
How do I confirm item collection?
When a customer reserves an item, they’ll receive a pickup code. The buyer will present this code when they come to collect the item. You’ll use the code to confirm that they’ve picked up the item.
